Guardian Angel Fund

HISTORY

In January 2000, a beloved pet of one of our devoted clients sadly passed away.  Kevin, a beautiful Maine Coon mix with a lovely gray tabby coat, was only 8 months old when he finally succumbed to the various illnesses he suffered during his short life. Kevin’s owner, a true animal lover and supporter of the human-animal bond, did everything possible to ensure that he received the best care available to help improve his quality of life.  When there was nothing left to be done for Kevin, his owner didn’t stop there.  She decided to donate a sum of money to start a fund for those who could not afford the medical necessities that Kevin required.  She wanted Kevin to be the guardian angel of animals who need more than their owners can give.

Our Guardian Angel Fund still lives on today thanks to generous donations and support from our clients, employees, friends, and family members. Over the years, many pets have been treated, healed, and saved by this fund. We are always encouraging donations as we frequently encounter animals in need who live in low-income homes or are strays fending for themselves. Below are several of the animals who have benefited from our Guardian Angel Fund. Kevin’s memory will live on through those who benefit from his legacy. Please call us at 541-758-4509 or stop by the hospital if you would like to support the cause and help animals in need.

RECIPIENTS

Jewel

Jewel is a 3-month-old stray kitten who was found in a field on a large property in November 2011. A good samaritan brought her to our hospital as Jewel was very ill and in poor condition. She was extremely lethargic, infested with earmites, and had severe gastrointestinal distress. With money from our Guardian Angel Fund and diligent work by our doctors and staff, we were able to rule out the causes of Jewel’s illness and get her the necessary treatment. She is finally on the road to recovery and beginning to act like a normal, energetic, and mischievous kitten. Click on this video link showing Jewel playing in our hospital. We are hoping to have Jewel move in with her new family by Christmas.

UPDATE: Lilly (formerly known as Jewel) has been living with her family for six months now. She has adapted wonderfully to her new home and has made great friends with the other pets in the household. We are so happy Lilly is doing well and thank everyone for their support and donations.
